This is a great opportunity for an individual who has a strong background in Finance to oversee financial arrangements and control. The role involves assisting the Executive Headteacher in budget reviews, projections, setting, and monitoring across a three-school Federation.
There is a requirement to work across three school sites at times during the week (TN15 6JP, TN13 2UR, BR8 7PJ).
We are looking for someone to work 4 days a week. Days and working hours are flexible and will be agreed upon with the successful candidate.
The primary responsibilities and requirements for this role are:
* Updating the Executive Headteacher and Federation Operations Officer on general financial policy and planning
* Coordination of the annual budget of income and expenditure for the Federation
* Monitoring the annual budget and presenting management reports to the Executive Headteacher, attending relevant meetings, and collaborating with the Central Team
* Preparation of long-term assessments of the Federation's future financial performance
* Preparation of financial appraisals for projects, working with the Central Team
* Preparation and coordination of income-generating activities, including grant applications
* Advising on the best utilization of school funds and their investment
* Responsibility for accurate payroll returns, including PAYE, NIC, and Superannuation
* Maintaining the academy account and preparing income and expenditure reports according to financial regulations, including submission of accounts to the Local Authority
* Overseeing premises to ensure certificates are up to date and compliant
The successful candidate should be:
* Experienced in financial management and budgeting
* Experienced in line management
* Knowledge of Capita SIMS/BPS (desirable)
* Familiar with school financial policies and procedures
* Flexible, professional, and reliable
* Collaborative and autonomous in work approach
* Capable of completing complex returns and reports
* Aware of confidentiality procedures and legislation
