The CCTV Supervisor will ensure that the CCTV team provides an excellent service, assisting in crime prevention and reduction through the monitoring of cameras which act as a visible deterrent and means of capturing evidence of criminality.

The CCTV Supervisor will lead the day‑to‑day operations of the CCTV team, ensuring that high service standards are consistently maintained. This includes implementing corrective actions where necessary and overseeing the preparation and management of staff rotas.
In addition, the CCTV Supervisor will ensure the team safeguards the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of all data, adhering strictly to Cheshire West and Chester Council’s CCTV operational procedures and code of practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES the CCTV Operator will…
1. Ensure that control room protocols and procedures are maintained and up to date
2. Supervise, train, and support CCTV operators, including recruitment, performance management, and development
3. Manage CCTV systems and assets, including maintenance, contractor liaison, equipment checks, and control room security
4. Manage and oversee the response to public enquiries, such as subject access and freedom of information requests in line with the relevant legal requirement
5. Represent the CCTV service at operational and partnership meetings and work collaboratively with partners to reduce crime, improve community safety, and increase public confidence in CCTV services
6. Provide operational cover for colleagues
7. Operate equipment in line with the CCTV Code of Practice and operational Control Room Procedures
8. Comply with operational procedures to produce and ensure continuity of evidential material and completing written witness statements which may be required during criminal proceedings.
9. Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of all information obtained within the CCTV service, whether written, verbal or by any other means
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
10. The role is a / role and requires shift work. The successful candidate will be flexible in working hours and willing to work unsociable shifts and weekend working
11. The successful candidate will have to pass level non-Police personnel vetting (NPPV L)
12. This role requires you to undertake other duties, commensurate with the grade, as may reasonably be required and in line with organisational development and change

REQUIREMENTS the CCTV Operator will…
22. Have a GCSE (A – C) or equivalent in Maths and English
23. Have supervisory experience
24. Be able to demonstrate excellent IT skills and would benefit from holding a recognised IT qualification
25. Be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of Data Protection legislation and would benefit from holding a recognised Data Protection qualification
26. Be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of other legislation relevant to public realm CCTV
27. Be able to demonstrate previous experience in the security, customer service, or crime prevention field and would benefit from holding a recognised security of customer care qualification
28. Be able to demonstrate the ability to work well with partner organisations
29. Benefit from holding a relevant recognised qualification in CCTV operations
30. Benefit from holding a recognised qualification in supervisory management
31. Benefit from previous experience operating and monitoring CCTV cameras
32. Benefit from previous experience in a role focussed on prevention and detection of crime and disorder
