Assistant Team Manager - Children Young People with Disabilities

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Team Manager to provide management support, professional supervision, and casework oversight to social workers. You will play a key role in driving the progress of plans and securing stability and permanence for vulnerable children and young people, ensuring the best possible outcomes for them and their families.

About the role

As the Assistant Team Manager, you will be responsible for:

2. Providing professional supervision and casework oversight to social workers, including Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs), to ensure high-quality practice and the best outcomes for children.
3. Driving the progress of care plans and securing stability and permanence for vulnerable children and young people.
4. Developing and managing your direct reports, including performance management, target setting, and case work.
5. Completing high-quality reports and undertaking thorough risk assessments, case planning, and analysis to achieve agreed targets.
6. Attending and chairing key meetings such as strategy discussions, Child in Need (CIN) meetings, and Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
7. Building and maintaining strong relationships with partner agencies to keep the focus on the children and young people we work with.
8. Utilizing supervision and appraisal effectively to identify and address individual and team learning and development needs.

About you

9. Qualification in Social Work and an active Social Work England registration.
10. Strong experience of working with children and young people with disabilities and supporting their transition to adulthood.
11. Experience of supervision / management of social workers within statutory Children’s Services.
12. Strong experience of attending and contributing to complex multi-agency and multi-professional meetings.
13. Strong knowledge of the legal framework, policies and procedures relating to Safeguarding, Children in Care, PLO and court processes.
14. Proven knowledge and experience of using statutory powers based on social work assessments in order to safeguard vulnerable children.
