Holmes Miller seeks a Senior Architect to lead residential projects, ensuring design excellence, technical rigour, and team leadership while managing multiple projects and supporting colleagues’ development.
The Senior Architect will lead residential projects from early design through delivery, working closely with a Sector Lead and contributing to the wider studio’s leadership culture. The role involves coordinating projects across multiple RIBA stages, including on site delivery, while managing and mentoring project teams. You will set clear direction, maintain quality and programme control, and act as a primary point of contact for clients, consultants and contractors. Responsibilities include overseeing technical design development, ensuring effective project coordination, embedding sustainability principles, and supporting resource planning across concurrent workstreams.
This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth of Holmes Miller’s residential portfolio. You will help shape our approach to residential work, strengthen team capability and support the development of client relationships as the sector expands within the practice. The role reports to a Sector Lead and includes responsibility for leading teams within the Glasgow studio.
We are seeking a candidate with 5–10 years’ experience in residential architecture, including project delivery. You should demonstrate strong technical capability, proven team leadership and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Applicants must have sound knowledge of Scottish Building Regulations and relevant residential standards, with a clear understanding of sustainable design. Experience delivering medium to large scale residential or mixed use schemes, including developer led or housing association projects, is expected. Confidence in client facing roles and experience mentoring colleagues are essential.
