Overview
Ospadal Uibhist agus Bharraigh, Benbecula – GP Walk‑in‑Service – Fixed‑term post until 31 March 2027. The post does not attract relocation expenses or Golden Hello.
Salary: £77,160 – £115,167 per annum (pro‑rated) + £1,461 Distant Islands Allowance per annum (pro‑rated). The position is part time with 48 hours per week (part‑time hours are also considered) and offers a rural‑proof model designed to relieve pressure on local GP practices across the Western Isles, improve patient access, and enhance the resilience of primary and urgent care services.
Responsibilities
* Provide same‑day urgent care for temporary residents and visitors across the Western Isles.
* Work independently within your sphere of competency as a clinician in a multi‑skilled team, including a Primary Care Flow Coordinator, Advanced Clinical Practitioner, GP, and Pharmacy Technician support.
* Offer telephone, Near Me (video conferencing), and face‑to‑face appointments from 9 am to 5:30 pm on weekdays at the Walk‑in‑Service Clinical Hub.
* For temporary residents not located in the Uist area, arrange virtual appointments (telephone or Near Me) and arrange face‑to‑face appointments in an appropriate location if necessary.
* From November 2026, expand the service to be available as a walk‑in provision for residents of North Uist, Benbecula and South Uist, as an alternative to attending their own GP Practice.
* Collaborate closely with the NHS Western Isles’ Urgent and Unscheduled Community Care (U&UsC) team and all nine GP practices across NHS‑Western Isles.
Qualifications
* Fully registered in the GMC register for General Practice with a licence to practice.
* Have been awarded a CCT in General Practice or have completed equivalent vocational training in General Practice.
* Have recent experience of working in a comparable Primary Care Service.
* Possess a full UK driving licence.
* Be prepared to register with the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme).
