Community Mental Health Team – North Hub Older Adult CMHT
We are looking for a permanent Band 5 Occupational Therapist who will work closely with the Band 6 OT, Consultant Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Community Mental Health Nurses and Admiral Nurses, as well as in‑patient units, CERTS, OPIP and Social Services, and liaise with GP’s and the third sector.
Main Duties
The Occupational Therapist will undertake comprehensive OT assessments using standardised tools and models, including MOHO. They will apply formulation skills to set appropriate goals and work with service users to achieve these goals through appropriate interventions. A core role is inputting into the division‑wide OPIP service which offers interventions in group and one‑to‑one settings for users with organic and/or mental health needs. The OT will be directly supervised by the Band 6.
Person Specification – Experience
* Experience within mental health settings or a previous role with mental health awareness.
* Insight into the difficulties and needs of older adults and how OT contributes to recovery.
* Interest and experience working with older people.
* Comprehensive understanding of the role of OT for this group and ability to communicate issues to service users, carers and families.
* Ability to describe support and supervision offered to colleagues, students and support staff.
* Evidence of detailed assessment skills and participation in MDT working.
* Willingness to take lead and responsibility where needed.
Personal Skills and Qualities
* Recognises importance of personalised care when setting goals and supporting service users.
* Can work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively, updating clinical records timely.
* Demonstrates awareness of development needs and workload management.
* Initiative to develop bespoke services based on unit needs in discussion with senior OT staff and manager.
* Leadership skills, works well with others and communicates effectively.
* Respects cultural needs of service users and diversity.

Salary
£32,073 to £39,043 per annum, pro rata.
