Our facility features five state-of-the-art cardiac catheter labs and a hybrid theatre, performing over 5,000 cases annually. This role offers a diverse clinical environment covering everything from diagnostic angiography and PCI to complex valvular interventions like TAVI and Mitraclip.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients undergoing a wide range of cardiac investigations and treatments.
Clinical Practice
1. Work as a "scrub" nurse or runner during cardiac procedures, adhering strictly to established care pathways.
2. Perform comprehensive patient assessments, planning, and evaluation in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
3. Maintain accurate nursing documentation, including electronic records via the Epic system.
4. Administer prescribed medications, including blood and blood products, with in-depth pharmacological knowledge.
Communication and Patient Care
5. Provide a safe, suitable environment for the physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being of patients and their families.
6. Communicate complex or sensitive information professionally and with empathy, particularly when dealing with distressed relatives or challenging situations.
7. Promote a positive image of the Trust through polite and sensitive interactions with all "customers".
Team Coordination and Resource Management
8. Delegate tasks appropriately to team members when acting as a team leader or link nurse.
9. Collaborate with the team to ensure the effective use of resources and the maintenance of adequate stock levels.
10. Contribute to the development of local policies and the implementation of Trust-wide procedures at the departmental level.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As a Band 5 Catheter Lab Nurse, you will work closely with the departmental manager and a multidisciplinary team to maintain excellent clinical standards.
11. In partnership with other professionals provide excellent patient care. This process should include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the Trust policies.
12. Following training and reaching a satisfactory level of competence, will operate medical equipment pertaining to the Cath Lab.
13. To work in all areas of the Catheter Lab suite including the Hybrid Theatre
14. Scrub and assist the cardiologist for all Cath Lab procedures to a competent level.
15. Ensure that nursing documentation is maintained to the Trust standard (including electronic records).
16. Participate in conducting nursing audit to achieve the agreed standards
17. To occasionally take charge of the clinical area, utilising resources effectively. Ensuring that safe staffing levels are maintained.
18. To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor with the support of their senior colleagues.
You will be responsible for your own continuing professional development and carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision, demonstrating procedures to and supervising qualified and unqualified staff. You will also have the opportunity to train for highly specialized skills, such as Nurse-led sedation TAVI and Nurse-led radial access.
You will be expected to work flexibly across different clinical areas as required and participate in the departmental on-call and duty rotas.
