Job Purpose:
The Financial Accountant role will report into the UK&I Finance Manager and will support the monthly and quarterly financial and management reporting for Odeon UK&I, as well as external reporting, budget setting and ad hoc support for the business. The successful candidate will support the Finance Manager with accounting for leases and fixed asset, as well as take ownership of P&L and balance sheet for various other operating expense areas.
Please note that this is a fixed term position for a period of 15 months.
Key Accountabilities:
* Complete monthly P&L and balance sheet reporting for various operating expenses of the UK&I trading business, focussed on fixed assets area.
* Own the capex reporting process for UK&I including additions, disposals and CIP.
* Work closely with the Development and Real Estate team to update lease accounting for changes to property leases.
* Assist the Finance Manager in further aspects of financial accounting and management reporting as part of the monthly and quarterly reporting cycle.
* Provide timely capex spend vs budget information to the Development and Real Estate team to allow for tracking of spend through the year.
* Ensure that Sox controls are operated effectively. Work with internal audit and external audit in the testing of these areas.
* Provide ad-hoc financial guidance to support the wider business.
Key Skills:
* ACA /ACCA qualified (CIMA considered with relevant experience)
* Experience of working within a busy finance function, preferably within a multi site, retail, leisure or FMCG environment
* Excellent communication skills, with a proven track record of building relationships outside of the Finance function and dealing with external auditors.
* Self motivated, keen to achieve targets, focuses on results and have proven record of successful delivery of objectives
* Experience in Oracle financial systems and Microsoft packages preferred
* Ability to both self-manage and work without supervision and to also be able to work within a team to maximise team and individual performance
* Willingness to challenge existing practises by identifying alternative, appropriate and/or innovative solutions
