Assistant Accountant - 12‑Month Fixed Term Contract

Our client, a respected and growing organisation within the [industry] sector, is seeking an organised and proactive Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a 12‑month fixed term contract. The Role:
The Assistant Accountant will support the finance department with month‑end duties, financial reporting, and day‑to‑day transactional activities. This FTC offers strong exposure to varied accounting tasks and would suit someone who enjoys working in a busy, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts
Process journals, accruals, and prepayments
Perform balance sheet reconciliations
Maintain purchase ledger and sales ledger activity
Support budgeting and forecasting processes
Assist with VAT returns and financial compliance
Provide financial reports and analysis to internal stakeholders
Support continuous improvement of finance processes
About You:
Previous experience in a finance or accounting role
Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas)
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise effectively
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Studying AAT/ACCA/CIMA or AAT qualified
