Neurodiversity Support Lead – HMP Peterborough
HMP Peterborough, the UK’s only prison accommodating both male and female residents, is seeking a Neurodiversity Support Lead. In this role, you will develop and implement strategies to support residents with neurodivergent needs, ensuring that education, skills, and work programs are inclusive and effective. Working closely with key stakeholders, you will provide staff training, analyse data, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of SEND resources and best practices. Adopting a whole-system approach, you will help residents progress throughout their sentence and beyond, liaising with education managers, industry leads, probation teams, and other professionals to provide continuous support.
Main Responsibilities
Develop and implement a whole-system approach to support residents with Neurodiversity or SEND, enabling progression through education, skills, and work pathways.
Liaise with the Learning and Skills Manager and education providers to ensure continuous support for neurodivergent residents, including post-release support via probation teams.
Provide guidance and training to ensure all staff and stakeholders share a consistent vision and ethos regarding Neurodiversity and SEND.
Monitor the progress of neurodivergent residents across education, work, and industry activities, analyse data, and address any participation or achievement gaps.
Ensure the quality of neurodiversity support is at least good and moving toward outstanding, informing improvement plans across classrooms, workshops, and work areas.

The Ideal Candidate
Essential:
Degree-level education or equivalent and relevant SEND leadership experience with evidence of achieving successful outcomes.
Experience working with neurodivergent adults and delivering targeted interventions while monitoring progress.
Detailed knowledge of Neurodiversity and a strong understanding of Diversity and Inclusion legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice.
Desirable:
Professional development in Neurodiversity.
Experience delivering Neurodiversity training to staff.
Previous SENCo experience.
Experience working in a prison environment.
Package Description
Salary: £41,321.93 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
