NHS East Genomic Laboratory Hub (EGLH) delivers the National Genomic Medicine Service for the region, including diagnostic, therapeutic, prognostic and predictive testing for rare diseases and cancers.
EGLH is seeking an experienced bioinformatician to develop and implement clinical‑grade software for high‑throughput, high‑quality clinical genomics. The role includes training, supervision and supporting clinical services in a cloud‑infrastructure environment. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of professional registration; training and support will be provided.
Responsibilities
1. Specialist analysis of genomic data: secondary and tertiary bioinformatics, including interpretation and reporting of diagnostic results.
2. Continued improvement of specialist clinical bioinformatics tools, processes and workflows to deliver genomic diagnostic services.
3. Development of novel specialist clinical bioinformatics tools, processes and workflows for diagnostic services.
4. Investigation and resolution of complex bioinformatics issues by specialist examination of input and output data, and associated bioinformatics processes; includes communication to technical, scientific and clinical staff.
5. Planning and management of bioinformatics development projects, including interfacing with technical, scientific and clinical functions of the genomic laboratory.
6. Planning and delivery of specialist and non‑specialist training in clinical bioinformatics to bioinformaticians, technologists and scientists.

* A full‑time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa unless a Graduate visa is applied for, the course is completed and a Graduate visa is applied for before the anticipated start date, or the Trust sponsors the individual as a Skilled Worker and the studies are completed within three months of the anticipated start date.
