Description Job Description Are you looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to support people who experience homelessness by dismantling barriers for homeless households? You will join the Temporary Accommodation Team and will work alongside a committed, experienced team in a policy area which is a priority for ministers and attracts political and public interest. You will work alongside colleagues from the three other teams in the Homelessness Unit, colleagues across the Housing Directorate, and many other relevant policy areas. Our strategic plan – Ending Homelessness Together – has been jointly developed with COSLA and we work closely with local authorities as our delivery partners to achieve the aims in this plan. The Temporary Accommodation Team is responsible for supporting ministers’ ambitions to reduce the use of temporary accommodation and ultimately end homelessness by strengthening and improving homelessness legislation and guidance, and ensuring that lived experience is at the heart of policy making. Therefore, there is a need for the team delivering the homelessness programme to respond deftly to emerging priorities. Responsibilities Support with progressing changes to homelessness policy and legislation to strengthen rights for homeless households, including the intentionality provisions in the Housing (Scotland) Bill, and enforcing the Temporary Accommodation Standards Framework. Support colleagues to develop and deliver homelessness policy to address the housing emergency. Gather, monitor and analyse data from local authorities on temporary accommodation and on delivering on their statutory homelessness duties. Provide secretariat support for strategic stakeholder groups. Draft briefings for ministers and the senior leadership team, produce MiCase responses and PQ answers, lead on FOIs for the team, and monitor the homelessness external mailbox.
