Mechanical Plant Engineer (Field / Mobile)
Location: Essex
Salary: £18.00 to £20.00 per hour (DOE) + regular overtime 15‑20 hours per week at 1.5x. OTE: £65,000+. Company van, fuel card, door‑to‑door travel paid, 25 days holiday, bank holidays, laptop.
Schedule: Monday–Friday 40 hours per week, up to 60 hours in overtime.
Role Overview
The Mechanical Plant Engineer will carry out repair and service work on container lifting equipment across Essex ports. The successful candidate will travel directly to customer sites from home and act as a representative of the company in the region.
Key Responsibilities
* Repair and service lifting equipment (e.g., cranes, forklifts, hydraulic machinery).
* Maintain plant machinery and ensure operational readiness.
* Visit customer sites in the Essex/Kent area.
* Document maintenance activities and report findings.
* Work 40‑hour contract with up to 60‑hour overtime availability; no out‑of‑hours call‑out or weekend work.
Candidate Profile
* Mechanically biased engineer with hands‑on experience.
* Experience with hydraulics.
* Background in lifting, plant, or similar machinery.
