GSL Education are currently seeking a committed and empathetic Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive school in Chesterfield. This full-time role involves providing consistent support to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
As a Primary SEMH TA, your responsibilities will be:
Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for primary pupils with SEMH challenges.
Promote emotional regulation, social interaction, and behavioural support strategies.
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement effective interventions.
Facilitate learning in a calm and nurturing environment.
Safely transport pupils if required for off-site provisions or support plans.
Requirements to be a Primary SEMH TA:
Experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs, preferably in a primary setting.
Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
Full UK driving licence with business insurance (essential).
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
A CV covering the last 10 years with any gaps clearly explained.
