Financial Investigator - Proactive Economic Crime – Civil Recovery Team (SEROCU)
This is an exciting opportunity for an Accredited Financial Investigator to join SEROCU’s Proactive Economic Crime Capability, which comprises several teams targeting illicit finances and money laundering. This role is within the CRiSP Team, which proactively targets criminal assets using Civil Recovery in Summary Proceedings powers.
Responsibilities
* conduct standalone civil recovery investigations (Account Freezing and Crypto Wallet Freezing orders, Cash and Listed Asset Seizures), requiring a strong investigative mind‑set.
* act as the lead investigator for high value, nationally significant complex cases, making applications to courts, analysing financial material, producing evidence, and preparing court files.
* adopt Cash and Listed Assets investigations from seizures made at South East Ports, working with various law enforcement partners dealing with both reactive seizures and proactive operations.
* adapt to unpredictable referrals, adopting cases and making initial applications, working closely with other team members and at times independently.
* you will also need strong relationship‑building skills, as partnership working is key to the success of the team.
* whilst the majority of the work is office hours based, on occasion you will need to work outside these hours to support operations, as well as travel to court.
* perform an on‑call function (telephone‑based) to support partners when making out‑of‑hours seizures.
Qualifications
* fully accredited Financial Investigator (FIO, FI, Confiscator, CRiSP, Restraint, S.47) or will complete the relevant entrants exam and training and thereafter submit the respective PDP to attain full accreditation with the NCA Proceeds of Crime Centre (PoCC).
* display the highest ethical standards and integrity.
* demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.
* full UK Driving Licence is essential to the role.
* pass and maintain vetting level SC together with a number of enhanced security checks; must have resided in the UK for the past five years.
