The Junior Trust Doctor in Medicine is responsible for the admission and care of patients in Diabetes / GeneralMedicineward. JuniormedicalcoverconsistsoftwoClinicalFellows working alongside one Foundation Year trainee and one Internal Medicine trainee. They will besupervisedbyoneSpecialisttraineeandoneSeniorClinicalFellowandconsultants. They areexpectedtopresenttheircasesduringwardrounds,maintainfull,clearclinicalnotes,and make appropriate handovers. They are also responsible for looking afterward patients and makingnecessaryreferrals.
The currentdutiesofthepostdonotincludeworkingoutofhours. Middle grade doctors will be present on site to supervise them at all times. The post-holder willberequiredtobeasflexibleaspossibleinrespectofworkinghours,toallowsome flexibility. JúniorDoctorsmaybeaskedtoworkoneitherhospitalsiteintheeventofemergencies.
The evolution of working practicesmayalso lead to changes in the planned role which might involve working on other wards and working out of hours.
Main duties of the job
The duties of this post consist of:
1. Making comprehensive assessments, ordering appropriate investigations, interpreting results and formulating initial management plans for patients under supervision by senior medical staff
2. Day to day care of patients admitted
3. Attending, and contributing to wards rounds
4. Performing relevant practical procedures where competent
5. Completing appropriate paperwork for patients on discharge and liaising with other specialist teams and GPs regarding relevant follow up

The post holder will have the opportunity to attend outpatient clinics and undertake agreed audit and quality improvement activities. There will also be opportunities to take part in teaching and supervision of FY1s, medical students and other health professionals.

13. Full GMC Registration and licence to practice
14. MBBS or equivalent
