Our amazing team in Paisley are recruiting for male colleagues with a patient and empathetic personality, a creative mindset, and experience in care to join them as full-time Support Practitioners.
The Role
You will be joining our friendly and dynamic team in Paisley, working across dispersed services supporting individuals in the community and a young man transitioning into his first home after living with his parents. The individuals we support have various needs, including Autism, learning and physical disabilities, forensic needs, complex needs, alcohol and drug-related brain damage, and behaviours of concern.
As a Support Practitioner, you will assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, medication management, attending appointments and activities, managing personal finances, support with moving and handling, and personal care. You will also provide emotional support and help maintain relationships with family and friends.
The individuals we support have diverse interests—from attending college and music clubs to watching YouTube, cartoons on VHS, going out for lunch, and watching football matches. Your support will help reduce social isolation, promote independence, and boost confidence. Some individuals have their own mobility cars and enjoy drives. A full UK manual driving license is preferred but not mandatory.
In our service, we may use CALM techniques, including physical intervention and escape strategies, to ensure safety. These include understanding triggers, maintaining proper posture and distance, and guiding individuals to de-escalate situations.
