We are currently seeking a highly motivated Nurse Manager CNM1 to join our client’s team at a Children’s Residential Respite House in Nenagh.
Overview of Duties & Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) will be responsible for leading the effective development and delivery of a person-centred day service for individuals with disabilities, in accordance with the New Directions framework and Enable Ireland's values. The CNM1 will provide strong clinical and operational leadership, ensuring the highest standards of care and support are maintained. This includes oversight of service planning, delivery, quality assurance, staff management, and resource allocation, while ensuring compliance with professional guidelines, local policies, and national standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Professional/Clinical: Provide leadership in clinical practice, act as a role model and resource for nursing and care staff. Practice nursing in line with national and area HSE clinical guidelines, professional standards, and relevant legislation. Ensure high standards of nursing care through the development and implementation of evidence-based protocols and guidelines. Maintain the highest standard of person-centred care across the service. Support the development and implementation of strategies to meet the emerging needs of service users under the New Directions framework. Collaborate with service users, families, carers, and other professionals in developing care plans and risk assessments. Ensure all services delivered are effective, person-centred, and regularly evaluated.
Service Planning & Development:
* Plan, develop, and implement individualised, person-centred supports in line with New Directions, including access criteria, assessment, and individual service planning. Advocate supports (individual and group-based). Promote community inclusion and access to mainstream services. Contribute to the development of operational policies, protocols, and procedures to support consistent and effective service delivery. Produce service plans and development proposals based on emerging needs and quality outcomes. Participate in the implementation and enhancement of service information systems.
Staff Management & Development:
* Lead and coordinate staff in the planning and delivery of day service programs. Ensure efficient delegation and completion of duties, activities, and therapeutic programs. Oversee staff recruitment, development, training, discipline, and performance management in line with Enable Ireland policies. Implement Personal Development Planning (PDP), clinical supervision, and performance reviews for all staff. Support student placements through recruitment, screening, and supervision. Coordinate recruitment and supervision of volunteers to ensure quality engagement. Organise and deliver staff training relevant to clinical, operational, and person-centred care.
Quality & Compliance:
* Monitor and evaluate service delivery through quality audits and reviews. Maintain and promote current best practices in disability services. Ensure effective operational delivery through monitoring policies, procedures, and protocols. Collaborate with the Quality and Risk team to manage local risk and health and safety issues. Document and report incidents or hazards, ensuring corrective actions are implemented. Ensure strict compliance with GDPR, confidentiality, and safeguarding protocols.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
* Actively liaise with HSE Midwest, community nursing teams, therapy staff, and external organisations to promote person-centred service provision. Maintain effective communication with staff, service users, families, and external stakeholders. Promote advocacy and participation for service users in all aspects of service delivery and community involvement. Represent the service in professional networks and interagency collaborations.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Participate in vaccination of service users and staff as required. Operate and participate in the weekend on-call roster for the day service. Engage in service-wide initiatives, pilot programs, and research activities as appropriate.
Required Skills & Competencies:
* Strong clinical knowledge and leadership abilities. Experience in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and service delivery. In-depth understanding of New Directions and person-centred planning. Excellent organisational, communication, and decision-making skills. Proven ability to manage change and implement new initiatives. Commitment to high standards in care, documentation, and professional ethics. Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
* Criteria: Registered Nurse (RNID, RGN, or equivalent) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience in a relevant disability or community setting. Minimum 1 year in a management or supervisory role. Experience in delivering services within a New Directions or person-centred framework. Proven ability to manage teams, resources, and service delivery in line with quality standards. Full clean driver’s licence and access to own transport. Evidence of ongoing professional development.
* Criteria: Further qualifications in management, disability studies, or leadership. Experience delivering training or supporting student placements. Familiarity with HSE and Enable Ireland quality systems and reporting frameworks. Experience in risk management and health and safety planning.
