Overview
Specialist Acute Speech and Language Therapist and Training Lead. Band 7: £47,810 - £54,710. Full-time (37.5 hours). Permanent contract. Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.
Responsibilities
* Provide autonomous clinical assessments, diagnoses and interventions for patients across varying specialties within Acute inpatients.
* Lead education and supervise the clinical education of junior staff and students, including delivering in-house dysphagia training for Newly Qualified Practitioners to develop competencies for managing dysphagia in the acute setting.
* Support clinical supervision and contribute to professional development and multidisciplinary collaboration within the Acute SLT Team.
Qualifications
Essential
* Health Professions Council Registration
* Recognised professional qualification to Degree or Masters level
* Evidence of relevant postgraduate training including leadership training
Desirable
* Practice Educators Qualification
* Member of professional body (e.g. RCSLT)
Skills and Knowledge
* Highly developed knowledge in specialist professional field, underpinned by theory
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
* Strong leadership abilities and ability to work independently
* Understanding of legal, professional and ethical issues in practice
* Ability to build effective relationships within the multidisciplinary team
* Knowledge of clinical governance, assessments, interventions and outcome measures
* Competent IT skills and presentation skills
* Commitment to client-centred, non-discriminatory practice and ability to engage with service users
* Ability to maintain accurate patient notes with numeracy and literacy proficiency
Experience
* Experience at advanced level of practice, including leadership and supervision of staff/students
* Experience in transforming services and implementing change
* Experience in recruitment and selection of staff
* Experience in working with users, carers and external agencies
Other
* Driving licence and access to a car as required for the role
