What will I be doing?
As a Social Worker within the Family Front Door, you will respond to queries and referrals regarding children aged 0-18 years. You will liaise with the public and professionals over the phone to gather and assess information to determine intervention levels. You will work on a rota system, gaining experience in duty, consultation, and friends and family advisory roles. Collaboration with Assessment Teams and participation in strategy meetings are essential to ensure effective transfer of cases with appropriate risk assessments and initial recommendations. The role involves partnership engagement, including attending multi-agency meetings for training and risk management.
We are the Front Door Service for Somerset Children's Social Care, based at Bridgwater Police Station. The team, co-located with partner agencies, contributes to the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), which improves response to child protection referrals by sharing information quickly and efficiently for the safest and most timely outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
You will be educated to degree level in a recognised Social Work qualification (DipSW or equivalent) with Social Work England registration. Experience in assessment work with children and families is desirable, along with enthusiasm for expanding your social work skills.

Located at Bridgwater Police Station, with office work at least 2 days a week. Salary range: £37,280 to £41,771 per annum.
