Theatre Practitioner – Orthopaedic Scrub
Location: Northwood
Salary: Up to £40,000 per year
(dependent on experience, training, and qualifications)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Theatre Practitioner specialising in Orthopaedic Scrub to join a busy and supportive surgical team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality perioperative care within orthopaedic procedures, ensuring patient safety and clinical excellence at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Act as Scrub Practitioner for a range of orthopaedic procedures, ensuring instruments and equipment are prepared and available
Maintain a sterile field and adhere to strict infection prevention and control standards
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team throughout procedures
Ensure all orthopaedic instrumentation and implants are checked, prepared, and used appropriately
Support safe and effective theatre set-up according to specific orthopaedic procedures and patient needs
Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient theatre lists
Monitor and maintain equipment safety, reporting any faults promptly
Contribute to a positive, professional, and patient-focused theatre environment
Requirements
Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)
Minimum of 1 year’s experience within orthopaedics across scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery
Experience or confidence in working as a Scrub Practitioner (orthopaedics preferred)
Strong knowledge of orthopaedic procedures, instrumentation, and implants
Sound understanding of infection control, patient safety, and perioperative best practice
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering safe surgical care
Working Pattern
The hospital is closed on Sundays
Flexible working arrangements can be discussed at interview
