We are seeking to appoint Lecturers on a fixed-term basis to plan and deliver across a range of courses within Foundation Studies, particularly focusing on the Access to FE programmes. The role involves developing learners’ skills for independence and preparing them for employment or further study, as well as contributing to programme development within the area.
Applicants should possess a degree in a relevant subject area (or a minimum Level 3 qualification with substantial teaching experience in Foundation) and have experience teaching within the Foundation Learning area, including Functional Skills, with up-to-date knowledge of good practice. A Level 5 teaching qualification recognized by the FE sector would be advantageous.
The positions are initially based at Uxbridge Campus, with potential work at Barra Hall, Hayes in the future.
MAIN PURPOSE
The primary goal is to ensure student retention and achievement through effective teaching and learning practices. This involves teaching and developing various subjects within the Foundation Studies curriculum.
DUTIES SPECIFIC TO THE POST
All lecturers share common duties (see below), with some specific to this role, including:
* Teaching a range of courses within the School of Foundation Studies, focusing on Access to FE programmes
* Preparing students for Edexcel and City and Guilds portfolios and Functional Skills exams
* Leading and collaborating with Learning Support Assistants in the classroom
* Participating in residential trips and activity days within Foundation Studies
Qualifications:
* Degree in a relevant subject or minimum Level 3 qualification plus at least 2 years of successful teaching experience in Foundation
* GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent, or willingness to achieve
* Level 5 teaching qualification recognized by the FE sector, or willingness to work towards one, supported by the College
