Finance & Payroll Manager
Nottingham
Hybrid | Part-Time (30 hours)
£45,000 – £55,000 Full time equivalent
Eaton Syalon are partnering with a growing, multi-entity organisation to appoint a Finance & Payroll Manager into a pivotal role within its finance function.
This is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity for someone who enjoys owning processes end-to-end, strengthening controls, and leading payroll and finance operations with confidence and precision.
If you thrive in environments where structure, process and continuous improvement really matter, this could be an excellent next step.
The Role
Reporting into the Head of Finance, you will:
* Oversee day-to-day finance operations including sales ledger, purchase ledger, reconciliations, accruals and prepayments
* Take full ownership of payroll governance and quality assurance processes
* Manage and challenge the external payroll partner to ensure accuracy and accountability
* Strengthen internal controls and reduce financial risk
* Support the production of management accounts and budgets
* Contribute to automation and digital improvements across the finance function
* Lead, develop and support a Finance Assistant
This is a role for someone who enjoys both the detail and the oversight — balancing hands-on involvement with leadership responsibility.
Your Experience
We’re open to candidates from a range of sectors — including SME, not-for-profit, professional services, education, healthcare or multi-entity environments.
You’ll need to bring:
* Experience managing finance processes end-to-end within a small to mid-sized setting
* Strong payroll oversight and pensions compliance experience
* Confidence improving quality assurance checks and financial controls
* Experience managing or working closely with outsourced payroll providers
* Strong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks or similar
* A proactive mindset — someone who improves processes rather than simply maintaining them
AAT qualified, part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or equivalent experience would all be considered
