Are you an experienced Machinist looking for a challenging and varied role? We are seeking a skilled and flexible Machinist to join our workshop team in Croydon. We specialize in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mechanical equipment for the Rail, Marine, Power, Oil, and Gas industries.
The Role:
As a key member of our operations, you will be supporting the remanufacturing of components by making repairs and returning parts to tolerance. You will also be crucial in creating special tooling to assist our workshop teams with various strip and rebuild tasks. You'll interpret engineering drawings, often working solely from a drawing to determine the necessary tasks and sequence.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Setting up and operating a wide variety of manual machines, including
lathes, milling, drilling, boring, and grinding machines.
Working to precise specifications and ensuring accuracy with measuring tools like calipers and micrometers.
Developing and producing basic tooling and modifications to help workshop teams overcome immediate challenges.
Supporting overhaul teams with guidance on component recovery.
Carrying out balancing tasks on components and assemblies.
Performing basic maintenance checks on your equipment.
Requirements:
You are an experienced machinist who thrives on variety and problem-solving.
Significant experience in the use and setup of manual machining equipment.
The ability to interpret and understand engineering drawings in both metric and imperial units.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail and quality.
The ability to work independently and accurately.
Excellent communication skills, especially for sharing technical issues.
A flexible approach to work and the ability to adjust to changing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Balancing experience is a plus, but we can provide training for the right candidate.
