About the Service
The County Durham Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service supports residents across the County with substance misuse issues from three recovery centres (Durham, Horden, and Bishop Auckland) and a wide range of community venues. To further strengthen the support offered by the service, we have additional funding for a 2x Rough Sleeper Outreach Workers for County Durham.

This post will work in close partnership with Durham County Councils Housing Team local authority and a number of key stakeholders to pro-actively engage with individuals sleeping rough to enable access to sustainable, safe accommodation. A crucial element of this role will be supporting people to overcome the challenges their drug and/or alcohol use may create in relation to finding and keeping a safe place to live.

The successful post holder will match Waythrough's ambition, and commitment to provide the highest standards of service delivery across County Durham and Darlington, engaging with local people and supporting their priorities

This is a fixed term post for 12 month. With the view of extending.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am-17:00pm, with occasional early morning and night time hours.
Base location can be negotiated near preferred location however outreach will be a county requirement



Main duties of the role will include:
* Working proactively to engage vulnerable people sleeping rough in County Durham to receive specialist support to treat and recover from substance misuse problems. This will include weekly sweeps outside of core hours alongside DCCs Rough Sleeper teams.
* Preventing and reducing rough sleeping by helping individuals to move into supported, more permanent accommodation.
* Creating and improving networks and signposting opportunities by improving communications and pathways between services to ensure a seamless holistic package of care for individuals.

The salary advertised above demonstrates the full earning potential for this role, starting salaries will allow for pay progression within the pay band.
