About The Role
Balfour Beatty Power T&D is looking to recruit a Quality Control Engineer based at the Kirriemuir site.
The role will support the delivery of Balfour Beatty projects in line with customer and stakeholder requirements. You will carry out verification activities to demonstrate compliance with Balfour Beatty standards, external accreditations, and industry best practice.
You will be responsible for ensuring effective implementation of procedures, including review and management of supply chain submissions, ensuring materials meet client requirements, and supporting a defect‑free outcome.
Responsibilities
* Attend factory acceptance tests and conduct inspections at suppliers.
* Produce Manufacturing Assurance Plans to manage risk‑based intervention activities within the supply chain.
* Ensure goods received are in accordance with Balfour Beatty requirements.
* Generate and maintain records of Factory Acceptance Tests/Inspections.
* Identify and control non‑conforming material and raise non‑conformance reports as necessary.
* Assist with root‑cause investigation to develop corrective action plans.
* Collate final quality records for handover of assets to client.
* Support establishment of a continuous improvement culture.
* Ensure all work practices comply with PT&D legal and statutory health and safety requirements.
* Undertake other duties as required.
* Challenge existing systems and processes to ensure best practice and continual improvement.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
* A full UK driving licence.
* Ability and willingness to travel throughout the UK and overseas.
* Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
* Good communication skills.
* Observant with high levels of attention to detail.
* Good report writing and numeracy skills.
* Good IT skills (knowledge of MS Office 365).
* Ability to work to deadlines.
* Knowledge of electrical/mechanical testing of products.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Trained ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and/or Internal Auditor.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes and process controls.
* Professional Quality Qualifications.
* Experience attending or carrying out Factory Acceptance Testing.
* Experience using Digital Progressive Assurance systems.
