About The Role
SHIFT PATTERN – Week 1: Mon‑Fri all 10‑hour shifts, timings will differ; Week 2: Mon Wed Fri Sat Sun Mon‑Sat 11‑hour shifts, Sun 6 hours, timings will differ.
As a Crime Prevention Officer, you are responsible for preventing theft, anti‑social behaviour, and retail crime across multiple store locations. The role focuses on maintaining a visible security presence, supporting store teams, deterring criminal activity, and ensuring a safe environment for customers and staff. Furthermore, a CPO helps deliver training to frontline Retail Security Officers (RSO) and feeds back key findings and intelligence to the designated account crime intelligence team. This is a front‑line role that involves working on your feet for extended periods and requires driving to allocated store deployments based on weekly publications by the designated crime intelligence team. Within this role it is important to remain alert, observant, and approachable while ensuring that safety and service standards are consistently upheld.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft, antisocial behaviour, and other criminal activity.
* Build relationships with local authorities to directly support tackling organised retail crime.
* Drive to dedicated deployments within the supervising region, in line with weekly publications by the crime intelligence team.
* Uphold and help improve frontline standards through regular training and development of store‑dedicated Retail Security Officers.
* Monitor CCTV and other security systems to detect suspicious activity and respond appropriately.
* Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, taking necessary action and escalating to management or law enforcement when required.
* Prepare accurate and detailed incident and observation reports.
* Complete site audits to ensure frontline teams are accurately following company policies and procedures.
Customer Service & Engagement
* Deliver a professional, calm, and courteous service to customers, staff, and visitors.
* Provide directions or assistance to customers where needed.
* De‑escalate challenging situations confidently and respectfully, maintaining a positive store environment.
Collaboration & Compliance
* Liaise effectively with store management, colleagues, and the wider security team to address risks or concerns.
* Ensure compliance with site‑specific procedures, company policies, and all legal and licensing requirements.
* Support other security or operational duties as directed by the Crime Intelligence team and direct line manager – Operations Support Manager & Senior Operations Support Manager.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
* This role typically involves standing and walking for extended periods throughout your shift.
* May be required to move between indoor and outdoor areas depending on store layout and security requirements.
* Requires a high level of attention and focus during monitoring and patrol duties.
* Occasional manual handling (e.g., repositioning barriers, handling security equipment) may be required.

Essential Requirements
* A valid and clean UK full driving license.
* A valid SIA Licence – Door Supervisor (DS).
* A valid SIA CCTV Licence.
* Strong observational skills with attention to detail.
* Proven ability to manage and de‑escalate difficult situations calmly and professionally.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A proactive, professional, and customer‑focused approach.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
