Job Description
The School of Global Affairs at Lancaster University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Late Medieval / Early Modern History (1400–1700). This is a 1.0 FTE indefinite appointment to start on 1 August 2026.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including courses in Tudor history and related subjects.
* Supervise research students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
* Play an active role as a member of the History community at Lancaster.
* Develop and deliver high-quality research projects with potential for external funding and research impact.
Qualifications and Experience
* Completed a PhD in history.
* Experience in undergraduate teaching, and ideally postgraduate teaching.
* Strong record of high‑quality publications appropriate to career stage.
* Coherent five‑year research plan that can contribute to REF exercises.
* Willingness to develop research projects that attract funding from major funders.
* Ability to engage external stakeholders to generate research impact.
* Commitment to using and developing fresh conceptual or methodological approaches, including Digital Humanities, and engaging diverse perspectives and global contexts.
