Service Manager – Quality Assurance 3‑month interim contract starting ASAP South West £500 per day (via umbrella) Inside IR35 Hybrid working - ideally 3 days per week onsite CVs are being reviewed immediately and interviews will be taking place shortly. Reporting into the Head of Quality Assurance & Reviewing Service, you will play a critical role in strengthening quality assurance activity across Children’s Social Care and driving improvement as the service prepares for Ofsted inspection and monitoring visits. This is a senior interim position requiring robust audit, QA, and practice-improvement expertise within a local authority setting. Your Role as Service Manager – Quality Assurance: • Lead and oversee all quality assurance activity across Children’s Social Care • Manage and deliver monthly practice audits and thematic audits • Analyse audit outcomes to identify themes, risks, and areas for targeted improvement • Facilitate learning forums and “closing the loop” activity to embed learning into frontline practice • Drive practice improvement in response to audit findings and inspection feedback • Provide forward‑facing support to ensure the service is prepared for Ofsted inspection and monitoring visits • Work collaboratively with senior leaders, operational teams, and partners to improve practice quality • Provide additional capacity to the wider Quality Assurance & Review Service to support improvement priorities Your Previous Experience as a Service Manager – Quality Assurance: • Significant experience in quality assurance, auditing, or practice improvement within Children’s Social Care • Strong knowledge of Ofsted frameworks, inspection methodologies, and local authority expectations • Proven skills in interpreting practice, identifying learning, and influencing change across services • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities • Experience operating at Service Manager or equivalent senior level within a local authority If you’re interested in discussing this opportunity in more detail or know someone who may be suitable, please contact Sarah Macrae or apply today.
