We are seeking a Technical Buyer to join a leading engineering and manufacturing environment based in Devon. This role requires strong technical understanding, commercial awareness, and close collaboration with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement of complex components and materials. It is imperative you have previous experience working in regulated industries such as Aerospace/Defence.
The company can offer a competitive salary between £30,000 - £35,000 as well as a long list of benefits, including enhanced pension, bonus scheme, retail discounts and social clubs etc.
Key Responsibilities:
* Comply with all HSE requirements and contribute to a zero-harm culture.
* Source and procure engineered components, including PCBAs, machined parts, custom magnetics, and sub-assemblies.
* Interpret and communicate technical drawings and specifications to suppliers.
* Work closely with Engineering to ensure parts meet technical and functional requirements.
* Issue RFQs, assess supplier quotations, and lead commercial negotiations.
* Manage supplier relationships and monitor delivery performance.
* Support New Product Introduction (NPI) through timely sourcing and supply chain readiness.
* Contribute to supplier selection and qualification.
* Maintain accurate supplier and item data within the ERP system (Epicor).
* Support cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives.
* Collaborate with Planning, Engineering, and Quality on BOM accuracy and lead times.
* Ensure compliance with export/import regulations and customer-specific requirements.
About You:
* Experience in technical procurement within a manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering environment.
* Familiarity with aerospace or other regulated industries.
* Strong understanding of technical drawings and specifications.
* Proven commercial negotiation skills with focus on quality and delivery.
* Experience working in a high-mix, low-volume production environment.
* Proficient in using Epicor ERP for procurement.
* Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
* Knowledge of sourcing strategies, cost drivers, supplier development, and import/export compliance.
* Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and results-driven.
