Civil Enforcement Officer
We are looking to recruit three full time Civil Enforcement Officers.
This is a challenging and rewarding job if you enjoy working outdoors and dealing with the public. You will be part of a successful team, which holds the Customer Service Excellence Award. You will be advising and assisting members of the public regarding the parking facilities and enforcing the parking restrictions. You will need to patrol significant distances and be able to access confined spaces in between cars. You will be required to travel around Waverley & Guildford boroughs to enforce Traffic Regulation Orders. This would be accomplished using the Council's vans and scooter for which you must have a valid full driving licence to drive manual gear cars in the UK and successfully pass the Council's internal driving assessment. It is essential that you have a courteous, helpful, and confident manner and that you are an effective communicator.
A 37-hour week is worked including Saturdays and Bank Holidays working an early and late shift basis. At present Sunday is worked on a voluntary basis. Full training will be provided.
A uniform is supplied, and shoe allowance paid.
A Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be requested for the successful applicant prior to appointment.
Job Profile
The Parking team is responsible for over 5,000 town centre car park spaces open 24hrs per day as well as managing the day-to-day operation of a further 1,500 park and ride spaces.
Officers will patrol car parks to ensure that motorists comply with the parking regulations. Officers will issue a penalty charge notice to any offending vehicle. Officers will need to deal with members of the public with various issues, this could be giving directions, advice on parking issues, giving first aid, reporting incidents, and accidents and assisting the emergency services when requested.
They also include the staffing of the Parking control room. This involves keeping a written daily events diary, auditing the day’s activities, and coordinating daily activities being performed by other CEOs.
Monitoring, responding, and dealing with customer issues. This includes 3 land line phones, 30 helpline phones located at all pay stations, entries & exits to our car parks and 3 hand - held radios that provide constant contact with all enforcement officers, cleaning staff and the police.
Attending lift entrapments to ensure that any trapped customers are safely released and bringing the equipment back into use safely, following the attendance of an engineer.
Health & Safety inspections, monitoring and reporting at all car public car park sites to ensure the safety of staff and customers thereby enabling us to attain and maintain industry standard independent safety accreditation across all our car parks.
We also carry out first line maintenance of all equipment in all car parks. We undertake cleaning of the payment equipment mechanisms, rectify minor pay machine faults, and any faults involving our entry / exit barriers to ensure the car park is run efficiently
