Oculus Legal Group is recruiting a Legal Assistant to join the Conveyancing team in their Chester office. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual looking to gain hands‑on experience early in their legal career and work closely with senior fee earners on a range of residential and commercial property transactions.
Base pay range
Salary up to £27,000 per annum
Responsibilities
* Review initial documents received from clients
* Check signatures against ID documents and complete risk assessments
* Request property searches and raise/reply to enquiries as directed by fee earners
* Correspond with clients, brokers, estate agents, solicitors, and other third parties
* Review and report on mortgage offers and lender requirements
* Draft and review legal documents and reports
* Obtain and review proof and source of funds and wealth
* Arrange draft and final indemnity insurance policies
* Calculate and complete SDLT returns
* Prepare completion statements, request deposits and mortgage funds, and make payments
* Handle post‑completion matters, including Land Registry applications and title updates
* Raise bills, archive files, and maintain accurate client and transaction records
* Assist fee earners with file management, calls, and administrative tasks
* Support the exchange and completion of transactions
