Maintenance Technician Level VII

Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician Level VII is a master‑level maintenance professional responsible for expert troubleshooting, multi‑discipline diagnostics, and high‑level repair work across all plant systems. This role requires deep technical expertise in mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems, along with the ability to lead major projects, mentor the maintenance team, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The technician is expected to work with full autonomy and serve as a technical authority within the department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Perform expert‑level preventive maintenance, including advanced inspections, precision adjustments, lubrication, and system performance evaluations.
2. Diagnose and resolve the most complex mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues across production and utility systems.
3. Lead major mechanical rebuilds, overhauls, and system restorations, ensuring equipment is returned to optimal operating condition.
4. Troubleshoot advanced pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including servo‑controlled valves, multi‑stage cylinders, accumulators, and proportional control devices.
5. Conduct precision alignments using advanced tools such as laser alignment systems, dial indicators, and micrometers.
6. Perform advanced electrical support tasks such as diagnosing failed sensors, relays, switches, and low‑voltage control devices (non‑energized troubleshooting).
7. Assist electricians with PLC‑related diagnostics, including identifying I/O failures, verifying field device functionality, and supporting program‑related troubleshooting.
8. Lead equipment installations, upgrades, and system modifications, ensuring proper integration with mechanical and control systems.
9. Perform calibrations on mechanical and electrical devices including sensors, scales, temperature controls, and flow systems.
10. Analyze chronic equipment failures and develop long‑term reliability improvements, including redesign recommendations.
11. Document all maintenance activities, findings, and parts usage in the CMMS system with high accuracy.
12. Provide expert‑level guidance, mentoring, and training to Levels I–VI technicians.
13. Support supervisors and engineers with technical insights during planning, upgrades, and root‑cause investigations.
14. Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and sanitation standards.
15. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
16. Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, engineers, and maintenance team members.
Qualifications
17. High school diploma or GED required.
18. 6+ years of mechanical or industrial maintenance experience required.
19. Master‑level understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems.
20. Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
21. Proficiency with advanced hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring devices.
22. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across multiple system types.
23. Ability to lead complex repairs, major projects, and system upgrades independently.
24. Strong communication, documentation, and leadership support skills.
25. Demonstrated ability to mentor and train lower‑level technicians.

Work Environment
Work is performed in a cold, wet, and noisy industrial processing facility. Exposure to moving machinery, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures is expected.

Schedule & Overtime
Day and night shift availability as listed; overtime, weekends, and extended hours may be required based on production needs.
