This full-time position is ideal for someone with previous caretaking experience in a school setting who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-functioning school environment. Job Description: As a School Caretaker, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the school site, ensuring that the building and grounds are safe, secure, and well maintained. Your main responsibilities will include: Opening and securing the school site, including setting alarms and conducting routine security checks. Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs around the school building, both inside and outside. Monitoring and maintaining heating, lighting, and plumbing systems, and reporting larger issues where necessary. Ensuring that all health and safety checks are completed and recorded in line with school policy. Managing the cleanliness and tidiness of school grounds, including basic gardening or grounds upkeep. Assisting with setting up rooms for school events or activities, including moving furniture and equipment. Liaising with external contractors and ensuring compliance with site regulations and safeguarding policies. Requirements: Previous experience as a Caretaker or Site Manager in a school or similar setting is essential. Practical knowledge of basic plumbing, decorating, joinery, and general maintenance tasks. Strong understanding of health & safety regulations, risk assessments, and security procedures. Ability to manage time effectively and work independently or as part of a team. A reliable, proactive, and trustworthy approach to work.
