Consultant Rheumatologist – Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust Location: Ashton-under-Lyne, United Kingdom Posting date: 07 May 2026 – Closing date: 22 June 2026 Responsibilities
Manage day‑to‑day workload of the Rheumatology Department, including inpatient admissions and outpatient clinics. Optimise patient pathways and link services with tertiary centres to provide an integrated care model. Participate in junior doctor training and deliver teaching to medical students and multidisciplinary teams. Lead audit and research projects that drive service improvement; evidence of audit work that has resulted in change is preferred. Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical pathways such as the Early Arthritis Pathway, Giant Cell Arteritis Pathway and Fracture Liaison Service. Qualifications
Essential
Full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid license to practice. Admittance to the Specialist Register or receipt of a Certificate of Specialist Training within six months of interview. Primary Medical Qualification (e.g., MB ChB). MRCP UK or Ireland and MRCP Rheumatology. Wide experience in rheumatology and strong knowledge of clinical governance. Evidence of participation in research and teaching of juniors, medical students or other health‑care professionals. Appropriate Home Office status to undertake a career post in the UK. Desirable
Postgraduate degree. Evidence of peer‑reviewed research publications. Research skills, including publication of articles and commitment to research methodology. Application Requirements
