Job description
An award-winning national law firm is looking for an experienced Senior Associate to join its leading Clinical Negligence team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside nationally recognised lawyers and advise on some of the most complex and high-profile claims in the healthcare sector.
You will play a key role in defending clinical negligence claims on behalf of NHS Resolution, independent health-care providers, and other health-care bodies. The department is a cornerstone of the firm's Health sector, consistently ranked in the Legal and Chambers.
Role Overview
As a Senior Associate, you will manage your own caseload of high-value and complex clinical negligence claims, supervise junior colleagues, and contribute to the wider strategic objectives of the team. This position also offers opportunities to engage in inquest and health-care advisory work.
Key Responsibilities
1. Managing a broad and challenging caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims, including complex and high-value matters.
2. Acting on behalf of NHS Resolution and other health-care clients.
3. Supervising and mentoring junior solicitors and legal professionals.
4. Delegating work appropriately while providing support and quality assurance.
5. Engaging directly with clients, providing strategic and commercially sound advice.
6. Preparing cases for litigation, including advising on liability, quantum and causation.
7. Contributing to business development through client training, webinars, and thought leadership.
8. Supporting colleagues during absences, secondments or increased caseload demand.
9. Participating in secondments with health-care clients, both remotely and on-site where required.
What We're Looking For
10. A qualified solicitor with 5+ years' PQE and a strong background in defendant clinical negligence.
11. Experience acting for NHS Resolution or similar health-care bodies is highly desirable.
12. Familiarity with case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
13. Strong understanding of clinical negligence procedure, pre-action protocols, and litigation strategy.
14. Exposure to inquest or health-care regulatory work is an advantage, but not essential.
15. Excellent attention to detail and ability to advise on complex technical legal issues.
16. Comfortable managing financial targets and working within service level agreements (SLAs).
The role is offered on a hybrid basis, with 2 days per week in the office.
The firm supports a flexible working culture that enables a positive work-life balance and encourages individuality, well-being and personal development.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented solicitor to join a top-tier clinical negligence team, make a meaningful impact in the health-care sector, and progress their career within a progressive and values led firm.
