General Manager for CYPS Learning Disabilities

Main duties of the job
As our Manager, you'll energise and guide a skilled multi-disciplinary team -- from Consultant Psychiatrists and Specialty Doctors to Nurses, Therapists, Administrators and Support Staff. Together, you'll champion high-quality assessment, collaborative risk formulation, and compassionate, person-centred care planning.
Our service operates across multiple satellite bases in Surrey and North East Hampshire. You'll enjoy flexibility around your main base (we have bases in Redhill, Leatherhead, Chertsey and Godalming), along with the opportunity to be out in the service building relationships and driving positive change with your team.
A full driving licence and access to a car are essential for this outward-facing leadership role.
The CYPLD Service is a key part of the Mindworks Surrey alliance -- an innovative emotional wellbeing and mental health system for children and young people in Surrey. You'll play a vital role in bringing partners together, strengthening relationships across the alliance, and working closely with external stakeholders to deliver seamless, values-led support.

Job responsibilities
To provide operational leadership and management to the clinical service
As a member of the Management team, to develop, review and maintain effective systems which ensure the service is delivered according to national, CQC, local and Trust standards, policies, guidelines and local service plans.
To contribute to strategic planning for the service to achieve and maintain a comprehensive service
ensure that systems are in place in order that comprehensive assessment and good treatment planning takes place and is focussed on target areas and effectiveness
To ensure that inter-agency protocols work effectively and are integrated with identified care pathways for children using services they may be using LD, ND MH or physical health Services provided by other organisations and not just SABP
To represent CYPS at multi-agency forums, steering groups and whole borough working groups, as required
In partnership with professional leads develop and maintain effective systems and practices to ensure the effective recruitment, supervision, appraisal and continuing professional development needs of the various disciplines related to service needs and strategic plans.
To ensure that all members of the team comply with Trust requirements for clinical records, data collection and meet agreed activity targets.
To undertake appraisals for all team members on an annual basis ensuring feedback on performance is given at regular intervals throughout the year through supervision structure as per policy.
To communicate effectively with the team on a timely basis ensuring robust systems exist so that staff feel informed and can contribute to service development.
To implement appropriate systems for gathering, recording and evaluating accurate information about the quality and safety of the service.
Ensure any informal complaint received is fully investigated and where possible, resolved to the satisfaction of the user of the service or the person acting on their behalf. Participate on the CYPS rota for early resolution and/or formal complaint investigations.
To effectively communicate sensitive information both verbally and in writing to a range of professionals, CYP, and family/carers
To communicate effectively to staff within the service regarding sensitive information e.g. HR matters, changes within the service
To make presentations to both formal and informal meetings within and outside the Trust.
To write analytical reports and present these within the Trust and to external agencies
To work closely with the CYPS Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to a CYPS Associate Director
In conjunction with the CYPS Senior Leadership Team project work, QI and service evaluation as required.
Person Specification

* Extensive relevant management/leadership experience in LD services
* Demonstrable clinical experience working with people with LD needs
* Have a working knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support
* Knowledge of and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Qualifications
* A clinical qualification to degree level or equivalent and membership of the relevant professional body (NMC/HCPC)
* Valid driving license for use in the UK and access to a car for work purposes
