We are looking for a Senior Government Relations Manager to join Oceyon on a part-time, mandate-based arrangement.
Role Overview
This is a high-impact, senior role focused on opening doors at the highest levels of government, shaping engagement strategies, and supporting access to permits, licenses, and strategic partnerships.
The ideal candidate is a well-connected operator with direct access to ministers, secretaries, and senior government officials, and a proven ability to navigate complex governmental environments internationally.
Key Responsibilities
* Leverage existing relationships to facilitate introductions to senior government stakeholders (ministerial / secretary level) in target jurisdictions
* Support Oceyon in building and executing government engagement strategies
* Advise on regulatory positioning, stakeholder mapping, and access pathways
* Identify and unlock opportunities for permits, licenses, and strategic cooperation
* Act as a trusted advisor on political, regulatory, and cultural dynamics in relevant markets
* Collaborate closely with Oceyon’s Head of Regulatory & Government Affairs and leadership team
* Contribute to building a global network of high-level governmental relationships
Required Profile & Background
* 10–20+ years of experience in government, diplomacy, public affairs, or international business development
* A minimum of 5–10 years of experience in mining, exploration, or offshore activities is strongly preferred
* Established, verifiable network at ministerial / senior government level (essential)
* Strong track record of opening doors and influencing decision-making processes
* Experience working across multiple jurisdictions (Africa, Middle East, Asia, Americas is a plus)
* Deep understanding of government structures, permitting processes, and stakeholder management
* Highly autonomous, entrepreneurial, and results-driven
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
