We are seeking an Access and Participation Surge Support Coordinator to serve as a key member of the Refugee, Resettlement, and Migration service. This role involves overseeing the daily operational delivery of community-led activities focused on leisure, recreation, arts, culture, and health and wellbeing to support families in leading happy, healthy lives, promoting social cohesion, and facilitating broader integration during their new life in the UK.
This position requires the successful candidate to travel to community hubs and provider locations around the county to facilitate programme delivery. Regular attendance at your designated base location is necessary, with opportunities for some remote work. Final arrangements will be confirmed with the successful candidate. Occasionally, work may involve interacting with individuals experiencing significant trauma or difficult circumstances, requiring empathy, professionalism, and resilience to provide appropriate support. The candidate must be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas not easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and bikes are available.
About the Job
As the Access and Participation Surge Support Coordinator, you will provide frontline assistance to customers and partners, supporting their successful integration into their new lives in the UK. The work in Refugee, Resettlement and Migration Service can vary daily. Key responsibilities include:
1. Act as a subject matter expert in community activities, contributing to initiatives that support wellbeing aligned with the strategies of the Communities Directorate and County Council.
2. Collaborate with a small team to provide practical support across diverse areas, focusing on facilitating access to community and wellbeing activities.
3. Utilise diagnostic tools such as surveys and statistical analysis to gather data and inform community-driven solutions.
4. Support the daily integration of individuals, families, working-age adults, and older adults into West Sussex communities, ensuring access to services promoting engagement in arts, food, culture, sports, physical activity, leisure, and health and wellbeing.
5. Support staff development within the service to enhance skills and knowledge related to refugee community support, improving service quality.
6. Lead and develop the Project Support Officer and support apprentices within the team, vital for operational assistance.

* Degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent qualification/experience demonstrating expertise in refugee support or related fields.
* Extensive experience managing and leading a local team.
* Ability to produce concise reports for research, proposals, or business cases.
* Experience in community development, designing, delivering community-led activities, and planning wellbeing initiatives.
* Proven ability to deliver customer-focused advice, guidance, and training, addressing complex issues and maintaining documentation.
