We are looking to recruit a suitably qualified and HCPC registered applied psychologist (Fixed Term to cover maternity leave) to work across several Adult Community Mental Health Teams within secondary mental health, with a centralised waiting list and shared groups. This is an exciting opportunity to provide high‑quality specialist psychological assessment, formulation, therapeutic interventions and care to people with complex psychological or mental health conditions. The role may involve offering advice, guidance, training and consultation to other professionals and carers. We seek individuals committed, experienced and passionate about working within multidisciplinary teams, trauma‑informed approaches, and with people who have complex emotional needs, trauma histories and a wide range of clinical severity.
Responsibilities
- Provide a psychologically informed service for those experiencing complex emotional needs and mental health conditions.
- Ensure the provision of high quality, highly specialist psychological services (assessment, formulation and intervention).
- Recognise, assess, and work with high levels of emotional trauma.
- Work as an autonomous practitioner accountable for own professional practice in respect of assessment, therapy and discharge of clients within defined caseload, and, where designated, of junior psychological practitioners.
- Provide clinical supervision, reflective practice, training and consultation as appropriate.
- Provide expert clinical advice and guidance to the multi‑disciplinary teams, wider RDaSH teams, and partner organisations that support people experiencing mental distress.
- Promote a culture with a positive approach to managing risk and change, working closely with other clinicians to ensure this occurs.
- Support the achievement of all quality and performance indicators relating to the MDT and psychology teams.
- Communicate in a way that recognises difference and ensures that people feel included and their individual communication needs are met.
