Senior Utility Surveyor
On behalf of our client, we are recruiting an experienced Senior Utility Surveyor to join their team due to an expanding workload. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and committed professional to take on a challenging and varied role with strong career prospects.
The Role
The successful candidate will have at least 4–5 years’ experience delivering detailed underground utility surveys and will be able to demonstrate proven capability in the use of Electromagnetic Location (EML) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology to produce accurate utility mapping surveys. Experience across multiple survey disciplines would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
* Carrying out site surveys in accordance with work instructions
* Undertaking thorough investigative utility surveys and completing all required paperwork in line with company procedures
* Liaising with site surveyors, contractors, suppliers, and clients
* Producing Utility Survey Reports
* Completing quality control checks prior to issuing drawings to clients
* Mentoring and training less experienced surveyors
* Gathering data to produce mapping information for underground and overground services
* Completing on-site detecting and mapping activities, including:
* High- and low-frequency Ground Penetrating Radar
* GPR in mark-out mode
* Electromagnetic location methods
* Drainage surveys
* Leading and coordinating field teams on site
* Overseeing technical aspects of projects to ensure quality delivery
* Undertaking PAS128 surveys
* Working independently while following instructions and using own initiative
Skills and Experience Required
* Previous experience working as a Utility Surveyor, ideally with supervisory responsibility
* Advanced skills in the use of electromagnetic and GPR equipment
* Strong understanding of utility provider drawings
* Extensive knowledge and experience in underground utility mapping and GPR
* Knowledge of topographical surveying equipment is beneficial but not essential
* Experience working in a wide range of environments and on complex surveys
* Full UK driving licence
* Right to work in the UK
* Experience training and mentoring other staff
* Willingness to work away from home on occasion
* Experience in post-processing GPR data is desirable
* NVQ Level 3 or Level 5 qualification is beneficial but not essential
* CSCS qualification is beneficial but not essential
