Role purpose
Management of Engineering resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the company’s planned preventative maintenance scheme, respond to equipment faults and failures with appropriate priority, and ensure the correct use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (Mainsaver) to capture all activity. Reporting to the Engineering Maintenance Manager, the Engineering Shift Manager must be able to support on-line fault finding and practical problem solving, as well as support Continuous Improvement activities.
Responsibilities
* Effective management of week-ahead and day-to-day planned preventative maintenance schedules to maximise reliability.
* Evaluate in-day breakdowns and work requests, assign priority and appropriate resources to ensure Production Downtime is kept to 2% or below.
* Work cross-functionally with the Engineering team and other functions to ensure priorities are understood, with effective escalation and reporting of issues through the MARA system.
* Ensure the correct application of safety standards and safe behaviours during maintenance activities.
* Assurance of the quality of delivered Maintenance & Repair activities.
* Ensure all shift activity is captured in the CMMS (Mainsaver); identify continuous improvement opportunities and participate in CI projects.
* Management of Direct Reports, developing their skills and ensuring competence is current; contribute to succession planning.
* Maintain all engineering areas to GMP standards and ensure reports adhere to those standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Apprentice-trained and qualified multi-skilled engineer with recognised Mechanical / Electrical engineering qualification. City & Guilds minimum.
* Proven Front-Line Management experience within an FMCG environment.
* Thorough understanding of PPM techniques.
* Strong desire to develop and coach team performance.
* Working knowledge of legislative standards within the FMCG environment.
* High level of numeracy and ability to analyse and interpret data.
* Proactive problem solving and ability to identify and implement process improvements.
Desirable:
* Manufacturing systems experience.
* Project Management skills.
* Management of financial budgets.
* Experience of Lean/continuous improvement environments.
* Ability to produce detailed engineering and process risk assessments.
