Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full‑time 8c Psychological Professional to join the Waltham Forest CAMHS leadership team. The role requires developing, refining, and implementing the clinical strategic vision for the services, promoting best clinical practice and working towards clear objectives. The position supports co‑production with children, young people and their families, acting in partnership with senior clinicians and management.
Main Duties of the Job
* Provide clinical leadership to Children’s Mental Health Services, working closely with the Assistant Director/Head of Service.
* Oversee clinical pathways and clinician activity to ensure patient flow through service pathways.
* Provide clinical quality control and ensure adherence to evidence‑based models and competence of clinical staff.
* Maintain a correct skills mix and contribute to workforce planning.
* Set up and maintain the overall clinical supervision structure for qualified staff.
* Collaborate with other health and social care professionals and agencies, and support the teams as an effective member acting on own initiative.
Qualifications
* Post‑graduate psychological practitioner qualification (Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist, Family Therapist, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist).
* Registered with an appropriate professional or regulatory body (e.g. HCPC).
Experience
* Successful track record of meeting performance and governance targets in modern NHS setting.
* Strategic understanding and excellent communication skills to develop effective relationships with key partners (ICB, local authority, GPs, voluntary sector, statutory agencies).
* Extensive clinical and operational leadership experience, including team supervision and workforce planning.
Benefits
High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, Goodmayes) of 15 % of the basic salary (minimum £4,870 to maximum £6,137 p.a. pro‑rata for part‑time).
Probationary period: subject to a probationary period; internal applicants exempt unless currently in the middle of one or a bank member.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check for any previous convictions.
