DevOps Engineer - with Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, Azure App Insights, Terraform, Docker, Microsoft products, Hadoop, Spark, DevOps Automation, Digital Solutions, Agile Software – Contract – UK – Remote - £500 per day
Our leading global manufacturer is seeking to appoint a DevOps Engineer on a remote, OUTSIDE IR35 contract. Due to a number of new projects this person will be appointed for an initial 3 months.
You will need to have a deep background with Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, Azure App Insights, Terraform, Docker and more. Ideally you will have had experience with other Microsoft products.
As a DevOps Engineer II, you will leverage your strong knowledge of development principles, practices, and theories to support the establishment and attainment of DevOps metrics and results.
You will create and recommend improvements to DevOps activities and procedures for assigned platforms, ensuring alignment with Digital Solutions and overall organizational IT strategy. Your work will impact not only DevOps but also various aspects of Digital Solutions.
You will coach, mentor, and share knowledge with entry-level employees with DevOps responsibilities, and assist in overseeing the development efforts of DevOps contractors to ensure high quality and productivity.
Your responsibilities will include writing and updating automated scripts for server software installations, configuring hardware/virtual machines, deploying code in on-prem private cloud environments, working with vendor and private cloud teams to update infrastructure and OS for applications, monitoring system performance and reliability, and troubleshooting operating system and data issues. You will also participate in project-related stand-up meetings and provide necessary documentation support.
You will need to be based in the UK to perform this role.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Expertise in Azure and strong understanding of it’s capabilities and offerings.
* Extensive experience packaging and delivering software to a production environment
* Strong understanding of infrastructure concepts and administration (Linux, DNS, Network, Firewalls, Security)
* Expertise in automating software deployments using tools such as Chef, Python, and Ansible
* Familiarity with technology inputs, outputs, and processing flows, with the ability to communicate this knowledge clearly
* Problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues collaboratively
* Experience with software source control tools like GitLab and GitHub
* Proficiency in Linux shell scripting environments such as bash
* Ability to write clear technical documentation for team use
* Capability to work under limited direction, handling multiple assignments simultaneously
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Thorough understanding of the Agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
* Knowledge of Big Data applications like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka is a plus
Proven Experience:
* in application development, technology, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered
* of 5 years’ experience building DevOps automation for infrastructure and applications
* of 3 years’ experience in software development, preferably with Microsoft technologies
* experience with technologies such as Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, Azure App Insights, Git, SonarQube, ARM or Terraform, Powershell, Containers (Docker), and Azure-CLI
* experience using all aspects of Microsoft Azure's cloud offerings
* understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC)
* working with and managing vendors independently, including offshore partners
* to partner with complex business functions to understand current and future needs and create clear deliverables
* understanding and application of various standards, frameworks, and methodologies
* thinker with experience in both qualitative and quantitative analytics
* to oversee and execute multiple projects, teams, and individuals with a proactive and adaptive mindset
* ability to anticipate future changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
* working in an agile, dynamic, and customer-centric environment
* communication, collaboration, presentation, and negotiation skills
