Protocol Education is working with a number of specialist schools and mainstream provisions in Peterlee who are looking to appoint compassionate and proactive SEND Teaching Assistants to join their teams in the new academic year. About the Role: Work closely with pupils who have a range of needs, including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech and Language needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Support students on a 1:1 basis or within small groups to help them access the curriculum. Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and EHCP targets. Foster positive relationships and promote confidence, communication and independence. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide consistent, nurturing care. Ideal Candidate: Experience working with children or young people with SEND in school, care or community settings. A calm, empathetic and flexible approach to supporting behaviour and learning. Understanding of safeguarding and commitment to inclusive education. A team player who communicates well and is always ready to learn.
