Infrastructure Engineer – Farnborough, UK. High‑level security clearance (SC/DV/Developed Vetting) required.
Leidos is a leading science and technology solutions provider working to solve the world’s toughest challenges in defence, intelligence, homeland security, civil, and health markets. We are expanding our UK technical team to support delivery for the UK Government and partner nations, and we need a senior, security‑cleared Infrastructure Engineer to join us on our Farnborough site.
What you’ll be doing
As a permanent Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will support the development, transition and in‑service running of an IT application and infrastructure solution that provides critical operational support. You will work on both project‑based activities and day‑to‑day operational support, contributing as a technical specialist and process owner. You will produce and maintain technical documentation (LLDs, Work Instructions, Operational Wiki) to support projects and operations.
Key responsibilities
* Plan, build and operate modern, scalable infrastructure using emerging technologies and automation.
* Collaborate with customers on all aspects of infrastructure management and integration of services across multiple lines of business.
* Identify and leverage business opportunities through architectural and design best practice.
* Communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries.
* Ensure Secure by Design is a core consideration in all deployments and designs.
Qualifications & experience
* Strong knowledge and experience with Windows Server, AD, DNS, WSUS, PKI, GPO.
* Experience with VMware technologies (ESXi, vSphere, vCenter, NSX, VCLM).
* Experience configuring Dell PowerEdge servers, PowerVault storage and Dell networking switches (VLANS, trunk and access ports).
* Proficiency in Microsoft PowerShell.
* Experience with Linux (RHEL).
* Understanding of DevSecOps, source control and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
* Additional experience with Ivanti, Trellix, Veeam, KeyClock IDAM, Docker/K8s, and hyperscale cloud (AWS). AWS Cloud Practitioner certification is a plus.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills; ownership of complex incidents to customer satisfaction.
* Experience in Agile/Scaled Agile environments; familiarity with waterfall methodology.
* DV security clearance; candidates without clearance must be ready to commence the application process immediately.
