HV Control Point Engineer - Edinburgh
Operating from a state‑of‑the‑art Control Centre in Edinburgh, your role will be pivotal in overseeing the daily operational requirements of National Critical Energy Generation Infrastructure. You will focus on managing real‑time network activities to ensure seamless and efficient performance, while actively interfacing with key industry stakeholders to uphold the integrity and reliability of the network.
Core Purpose
Ensure the reliable and safe operation of all high‑voltage (HV) and low‑voltage (LV) assets within the control centre, supporting the national grid’s performance and availability.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Integrate into the Global 24/7 NRG Control Point Family.
* Support and contribute to the facilities culture of excellence.
* Operate and coordinate all HV and LV activities via the NRG Control Point SCADA systems.
* Ensure optimal safety, production, and availability by managing real‑time network operations and coordinating maintenance tasks.
* Monitor and influence the implementation and adherence to Global Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules.
* Support the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and operating systems.
* Maintain daily communication and coordination with global site engineers.
* Participate in the 24/7 shift operational pattern.
* Adapt to changing operational needs and provide continuous support for network operations and maintenance activities.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
Health and safety of all staff under direct control or supervision. Ensure all activities are carried out safely in line with current risk assessments and good working practices, reporting accidents or incidents promptly and complying with the OEG Group Health and Safety Policy.
Quality Responsibilities
Have a general understanding of the ISO 9001 management system relevant to the role, comply with the OEG Group Quality Policy, and understand OEG’s targets and objectives.
Skills and Experience
* Expertise in project management, engineering, HV safety, and asset analysis.
* Proven track record in an electrical engineering role, with significant experience with HV infrastructure across 11‑400 kV.
* Prior experience in a control room or control systems setting, particularly within national electrical infrastructure or marine industries.
* Knowledge of electrical single‑line diagrams (SLDs) and mechanical piping & instrument diagrams (PIDs).
* Competent in ensuring adherence to ‘Safety from the System’ and Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules procedures.
* Capable of overseeing electrical and mechanical activities for safety, technical review, contractual compliance, and operational duties.
* Track record of implementing compliance processes for grid connection points.

Qualifications
* Highly desirable engineering degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent.
* Previous experience, authorisation and significant exposure to Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules.
