Oxleas NHS trust were awarded the South West prison contract in 2022 and currently have a portfolio of 19 prisons across the South of England. We are currently looking to expand our pool of bank workers by recruiting Podiatrists to work within the Prison service on a flexible basis.

Please note: This role will cover both HMP Guys Marsh in Dorset and HMP Erlestoke in Wiltshire.

Our healthcare team has a real impact on promoting health and well‑being to those in prison and we pride ourselves on using skills and strategies that instil hope for patients’ future resettlement back into the community. We directly deliver Mental Health, Physical Health, Pharmacy and Clinical Substance Misuse in an integrated healthcare delivery model to provide effective and responsive care to improve wellbeing and support better outcomes in the future.

* Provide podiatry services to clients in the prison, through the application of a curative Philosophy of Care. Work within the healthcare team to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to the improvement of foot pathology.
* Provide assessment and the full range of podiatry treatments to clients within the prison, including wound dressings, scalpel debridement of nail & soft tissue pathology, and care of foot problems resulting from neglect & lack of self‑care.
* Work as an autonomous practitioner, developing & agreeing treatment plans individually with clients. Senior staff support is provided.
* Be responsible for protection of the health and wellbeing of all clients. Alert others to concerns where protection may be required for vulnerable adults. Appropriately refer clients to specialist teams within the department when needed and refer clients for investigation, diagnosis or treatment.
* Deal sensitively and appropriately with a client caseload with complex health needs, assisting individuals to manage their health needs effectively.
* Work within an MDT to provide a multidisciplinary approach to improvement of foot pathology.
* Always aim to achieve maximum independence through self‑care and effective client management for each client.
