We are a dedicated tuition consultancy working in partnership with Reading Local Authority to provide vital 1-1 tuition for students across the borough. As demand for our support grows, we’re looking for passionate and skilled Functional Skills Tutors to join our team and make a real difference to young lives.
The Role
You’ll be offering tailored Maths and English tuition to learners of all backgrounds and abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Working one-to-one, you’ll assess, plan and deliver engaging sessions that help students grow in confidence and achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality, personalised 1-1 Functional Skills tuition in Maths and English
* Assess students’ starting points and learning needs
* Develop individual learning plans to support progress
* Adapt teaching strategies for students with SEN and SEMH needs
* Track and report on student progress
* Liaise with families, schools, and the local authority as needed
What We’re Looking For
* Experience tutoring or teaching Functional Skills Maths and English
* Proven experience supporting students with SEN and SEMH needs
* Ability to assess, plan, and deliver effective, creative tuition sessions
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Professional, flexible, and empathetic approach
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
