We are seeking to recruit a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will join the well-established MSK Physiotherapy service based at Mile End Hospital.
There will be 2 programmed activities (PAs): 1 PA for direct clinical care and 1 PA for supporting professional activities, including research, audit, admin, teaching, and CPD. As a senior employee of the Trust, you will collaborate closely with clinical, medical, professional, and managerial colleagues to provide safe, high-quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
1. Manage a clinical caseload of musculoskeletal patients referred for assessment, triage, and management, including advice, imaging, investigations, injections, and ultrasonography.
2. Support ACP Physiotherapists in developing a new ultrasonography service for musculoskeletal pathologies.
3. Act as a clinical supervisor for ACP colleagues undergoing ultrasonography training.
4. Serve as a point of contact with the Sports and Exercise Medicine and Rheumatology teams.
5. Contribute to departmental audit and research initiatives.
6. Participate in relevant in-service training programs.
7. Maintain trust governance, policies, and guidelines.

Qualifications
* Member of RCP and Faculty of Sports and Exercise Science
* GMC Specialist Register for Sport and Exercise Medicine or within 6 months of achieving this with Certificate of Training
* PGCert, PGDiploma, or MSc in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
Experience and Knowledge
* Broad experience in Sport and Exercise Medicine
* Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across the multidisciplinary team
* Evidence of leadership skills
* Understanding of NHS budgetary processes
* Training as an Educational Supervisor per PMETB guidelines
* Experience working with professional and elite athletes
* Experience in exercise medicine clinics
Skills
* Familiarity with management processes and involvement at specialty training level
* Strong organizational skills
* Ability to work across organizational boundaries
